Beat the Backlist is all about reading the books that you went gaga over and brought BUT never read because of newer books you went gaga over and brought. The cycle repeats. This year’s challenge doesn’t have all additional fanfares. You just read and earn points. That’s it.
I failed at last year’s Beat the Backlist badly. I’m going to TRY not to do that for 2019. This is my official post and TBR. The challenge is hosting by Novel Knight. Here’s more information.
The challenge runs from January 1, 2019, to December 31, 2019 (your local time). You can sign up at any time.
Rules
The rules are pretty simple.
1. Read any book in any format as long it is published in 2018 and earlier.
2. You have to start and finish in 2019 for the book to count towards the goal.
I’m joining the Hogwarts Mini Challenge and I am a proud Hufflepuff!
Tentative TBR
My goal is very simple. Just read a backlist book. There are so many books that I wanted to read so I think I’ll add as I go on throughout the year. However, here’s the 12 books that I’m planning on giving a priority for 2019. With that said, these books aren’t final – I might DNF or lose interest in some of these books. As I read these books and the ones that aren’t on the list, I’ll add the title, the author(s), and date start/read below the pictures.
Warcross | Crooked Kingdom | An Ember in the Ashes | Jade City
The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet | Aru Shah and the End of Time | Wild Beauty | Want
First & Then | Homegoing | I Believe in a Thing Called Love | The Bear and the Nightingale

It’s nice to see this getting scaled back some. I tried this last year and this year and both times didn’t work out. The same thing seemed to happen last year and this year, that the people who run it can’t keep up with it. I’m hoping 2019 is different. I don’t think I’ll be participating due to my experience. Good luck with this challenge.

It seems like this event finally got scaled back some and reorganized this year. It makes me a bit more excited for it. I am planning on joining up as well. I intend to be a HufflePuff as well, since that is what I get whenever I take those silly quizzes about which house I should be in. 🙂 Some excellent choices for books, look forward to seeing how you do this year.

Yeah, I think she was testing to see what works and what doesn’t. The best part of it is that you don’t have to join the houses, you can just read backlist books without pressure. I’m glad to hear that you’re joining my house! Welcome! 🙂

Thanks for joining again! I know it’s been a mess the past couple years but I hope with the changes made this year that it goes much more smoothly and gives y’all more time to focus on reading!!

I love your idea for these last two years… that’s why I joined. I just couldn’t read for past two years because slump. I hate it when it lasted this long. I am hoping 2019 will change that for me! 🙂

I’ve been in a slump most of this year so I get that. Fingers crossed for you!
