November 6: Backlist Books I Want to Read
Here are the backlist books that I wanted to read so badly. The first six came from the post that I did a while back and I need to read these so I can do the updated post. The last four books are the books that I am looking forward to reading and still haven’t. I know that I am repeating myself – I am hoping though, I’ll find new books to replace them soon so I can finish reading them and enjoy them and finally give them reviews that they deserve.
The City of Brass // S.A. Chakraborty
The Kingdom of Cooper is coming up soon and I want to read this before that one. I just know that I will fall in love with this book and why am I not reading this? I do not know. Maybe I am scared that I would end up being wrong? I just need to shake that off and READ!
Update: I’m currently buddy-reading this with Aimal from Bookshelves & Paperbacks. So excited!
Warcross // Marie Lu
Now with Wildcard out, I am looking forward to reading this book. People have been commenting on how much they love the world building.
The Hate U Give // Angie Thomas
This book has been on my list various times, and hopefully, soon I am able to finish this book. I have heard nothing but wonderful things. I love Angie’s pictures/stories on her Instagram account and am looking forward to On the Come Up.
When the Moon Was Ours // Anna-Marie McLemore
I have not finished Wild Beauty but from what I see with her writing, I just knew that I am going to love this book. I recently got a physical copy of this book via BookOutlet and I am thrilled.
Crooked Kingdom // Leigh Barudgo
Now with the paperback edition for both Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom, I can annotate one of my favorite books (Six of Crows) and enjoy the read. I tend to remember things easier if I read books back to back. I typically don’t like to reread but why not when you are in love with a book.
The Fifth Season // N.K. Jemisin
With N.K. winning the Hugo Award for The Stone Sky earlier this summer; I truly want to read the trilogy and see if I enjoy them. I have a Kindle edition of this book and I couldn’t get into it. Maybe this would be better if I have a physical copy. What do you think?
Vicious // V.E. Schwab
I am currently reading this novel and I am loving it. Can’t wait for me to read Vengeful. I love the idea of reading Villian vs Villian. It’s different and I am enjoying this.
The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue // Mackenzi Lee
I know. I haven’t read this. I have heard that this book is so funny but can be serious whenever a serious topic has brought up. I want to read this so I can read The Lady’s Guide to Petticoats and Piracy. If I ended up loving both books, I am hoping that Mackenzi will consider writing more in the world that she created.
Want // Cindy Pon
I brought this via BookOutlet and cannot wait to jump into this world. I love the Ruse cover and cannot wait to get that book as well!
We Are Okay // Nina LaCour
I know this seems random but I truly want to read this book. The synopsis sounds fantastic. I want to see how she’d write the story. Plus, the book itself is gorgeous.
I really really enjoyed Warcross! I also just re-read The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue and it was just as good the second time around. Happy reading!

Thanks! I hope I get to them very soon! Did you read the sequels to these books yet? If so, what do you think?

I loved Wildcard, and enjoyed it more than the first. Although people are very split on that! And the Lady’s Guide I enjoyed but it fell flat for me overall. It just wasn’t what I had hoped it to be. I wouldn’t say it was terrible, because I did enjoy it, I just preferred the first one!

Everyone likes things differently and that’s cool. Just wish people sees that sometimes. I need to find out where I fall on Warcross/Wildcar and The Gentleman’s/The Lady’s.

I read The Hate U Give in September, and really loved it! I was late to jump on the bandwagon too… I hope you’ll like it though!
