Top Ten Tuesday | Authors I’d Love to Meet

For anyone unfamiliar with Top 10 Tuesday, it’s a weekly meme that was created by The Broke and The Bookish and is now being hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. To see more posts on this very topic, please go here.

October 2: Authors I’d Love to Meet

There are so many authors that I wanted to meet and pick their brain on how they came up with the characters or the plot. That’d be cool. It’s hard to just pick ten authors when there are quite many people that I wanted to meet so badly and just chat with them.

1. Leigh Bardugo
I would love to know how she’d come up with the world and the magic system and still get the characters fit so well in that world. Kaz. Inej. Nina. Matthias. Jasper. Wylan. They felt like they actually came from this world.

2. Angie Thomas
The fact that she got movie rights BEFORE the book were even published. In fact, it was while it was in the manuscript stage. Then the book came out, and debuted in New York Times Bestseller at #1 and stayed there for over a year and a half. That says something about her as an author and as a person. I am so curious about the book. I am planning on reading it before the movie comes out later this month.

3. Tomi Adeyemi
The same thing applies here. I have the book and I have started the book – I just didn’t finish it as usual. My plan here is to finish the book before the next ones get released in March. I adore Tomi. I follow her on Instagram and she’s a hoot to listen and watch. She has a wonderful personality.

4. Chanel Cleeton
I found out about Chanel via Resse Witherspoon’s book club that I follow on Instagram. I borrowed this from the library and I read this book so slowly so I can savor it. I had to return it and wait for it to come back from the hold. It’s so good so far.

5. Celeste Ng
This book got a lot of raves and now it’s going to be turned into a mini-series via Resse Witherspoon’s company. I love this book, it isn’t my favorite of all times. I do enjoy this book and I want more.

6. Marissa Meyer
I have been hearing a lot of raves about this, especially by Emma @ Emmmabooks. It’s a superhero novel. This month, the publisher and some of the BookTubers, I believe is going to read/reread the book and I’m planning on doing the same.

7. Taylor Jenkins Reid
I need to finish The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. I am very curious about her husbands and why she would like to have Monique to write her biography. I love Taylor’s writing. I felt like I was part of the story.

8. Marie Lu
I adore Legend and the following sequels. I want to binge read Warcross and Wildcard. When I first heard about Warcross, it made me wonder how she’d put what she saw on a piece of paper.

9. Akemi Dawn Bowman
I have Starfish on my kindle and I’m determined to read this before the year is over. I truly want to read this. This book has nothing but praise and I’m curious about her writing.

10. Ashley Herring Blake
I have heard so many good things about the books that she wrote and I am planning on reading every single one of them.

I didn’t actually meet her, but I saw Angie Thomas at a conference once, and joy and light seriously just beam out of her face. She has an amazingly cheerful presence and seems so nice! I hope you get to reading The Hate U Give soon, it’s a powerful book!

Yeah. I saw her reaction on Istagram after seeing the movie. It shows how much she loves this book and these characters as well as the people who are involved in the movie.

A close friend of mine met Leigh Bardugo at a writing conference in Dallas. She has the Six of Crows tattooed on her arm because it is the series that inspired her to rekindle her love for books and become a librarian. They both cried we they met and to this day my friend talks about Leigh with tears of admiration in her eyes.
