June 19: Books to Read By the Pool/At the Beach (This can also serve as your summer TBR)
Now, I love to make TBRs but I’m a mood reader. I do see TBRs as a guide because I suck at figuring out which books I should read next because there are so many. So, this is my guide for the summer.
The Sun is Also A Star | From Twinkle, With Love | Save the Date
The Poppy War | Circe | Jade City | An Ember in the Ashes
The Astonishing Color of After | When the Moon Was Ours | Aru Shah and the End of Time
The Hate U Give | My Lady Jane | The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue
Great list! Circe and Astonishing Color are amazing. My Lady Jane is hilarious and perfect for summer. The Poppy War is on my TBR too!

I can’t wait to jump into these two. I’m currently reading My Lady Jane from the library before the 2nd book comes out. I have The Poppy War as well but I’m going into the book slowly because I have heard it’s brutal and I’m not good with brutal.

Yes I’ve heard that too. So I have a second, more lighthearted book available for alongside or after The Poppy War…just in case.

Yeah, me too. I have brought so many serious books so lately, I have brought a lot of happy fluffy books to help me to combat that.

I just finished The Poppy War two days ago and it is a really good book. I do add my +1/upvote to the “it’s brutal” comment you heard.

How do you like the book?

With least amount of spoilers: It’s a good book. Great worldbuilding, though parallels to East Asia are quite blatant. I was pretty engrossed from beginning to end. Ending felt kinda abrupt to me. Would not say no to more books set in this universe.

I have heard that this is a series so I’m excited already for the next book. Thank you for letting me know. 🙂
