Welcome back to Bookish News! Here’s the news that I have gathered over the month of January.

Please let me know of any news that I missed in January and I am more than happy to update this post. Also, let me know of any other sources that would let me know of Authors’ news such as a new book deal, cover reveals, etc. Thank you!

Book News

Zenith Book Trailer!
Zenith book trailer has been released. It is being co-written by Sasha Alsberg and Lindsay Cummings. (Source).

The Hazel Wood News!
There will be two books in The Hazel Wood arc. The Hazel Wood has and has been optioned for film. The sequel will be released in Fall 2019 and Tales from the Hinterland will be released in Fall 2020. (Source).

The Epic Crush of Genie Lo Sequel!
F.C. Yee has announced on Twitter saying the sequel to The Epic Crush of Genie Lo will be called The Iron Will of Genie Lo. (Source).

Samira Ahmed’s New Book!
The Author of Love, Hate & Other Filters; has a new book – Internment, “about a near future in the United States where Muslim Americans are forced into an internment camp, and a seventeen-year-old must fight against Islamophobia, oppression, and complicit silence,” out in Spring 2019. (Source).

Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson Will Be A Graphic Novel!
Speak were published back in 1999 and was one of the books that were rare for its time. It speaks of  “groundbreaking depiction of sexual violence and its aftermath.” Now with the #MeToo Movement, it will become a graphic novel. The publisher, Macmillan is partnering with RAINN — Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network — to raise funds for the nation’s largest anti-sexual violence program. Film News

Celeste Ng’s Everything I Never Told You News!
LD Entertainment optioned the rights to Celeste Ng’s novel, Everything I Never Told You. They will team with Oscar-nominated producer Michael De Luca (The Social NetworkCaptain PhillipsMoneyball) on a film adaptation. Julia Cox (Amazon’s The Last Tycoon) is attached to pen the screenplay.     Thank you for sharing Nicole! the sequel to The Hazel Wood sounds promising, the actual tales from the Hinterland were to me the BEST parts of Hazel Wood. SUPER stoked for Lifel1K3, Blanca Y Roja, BrujaBorn, Blade So Black & last but def not least THE WINTER WITCH! *eeeeeKKKK* so many exciting titles, That cover reveal for City of Ghosts is so eerie, Love it! 🙂

    how cool that Speak is becoming a graphic novel!!!
    I remember reading half of the book in high school, and stopped because I lost my physical copy and I just FORGOT to find a new one.
    but this is a great motivation to reread!!!!!
    I love graphic novels here lately, such a gorgeous art form
