Welcome back to Bookish News! Here’s the news that I have gathered over the month of October. Bare with me when I am trying to figure out the best way for me to share the news with you without overwhelming you with a lot of information. If you have an idea, please let me know.

Book News
Kiersten White’s New Novel!
Kiersten White, the author of And I Darken and Now I Rise is writing a new novel, The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein. The novel will be in the point of view of Elizabeth, whose family took in to be a companion for their son, Victor. It is set to be released during Fall 2018. The perfect timing for the 200th anniversary of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, which was published in 1818. (Twitter). (Goodreads).
Nnedi Okorafor’s New Novel!
There will be the third book in the Akata series, following Akata Witch and Akata Warrior! Unknown release date at this point and I will update the information once I find out. (Source). (Nnedi’s Tweet).
Adam and Becky Working Together!
Yes, that’s right. Adam Silvera and Becky Albertalli are working together on a brand new novel, What If It’s Us, coming out in Fall 2018! According to the Goodreads page, it says October 2, 2018. I will keep an eye out on the release date. It is going to be published by two imprints, HarperTeen and Balzer + Bray, which both are under HarperCollins. According to the source, it is about: “Arthur and Ben meet at the post office as Ben is shipping his ex-boyfriend’s things back to him. They subsequently endure the frustration of knowing there was a missed connection before the universe pushes them back together again in a series of failed “first” dates.” Becky is going to write from Arthur’s perspective and Adam is going to write from Ben’s perspective. Jennifer Egan’s Manhattan Beach Acquired!
Scott Rudin Productions got the rights to Jennifer Egan’s Manhattan Beach, a best selling thriller novel. There are interests in both TV and Movie rights. (Goodreads). (Source).

TV News
The School for Psychics TV Show!
CW is to develop the first book in a series by K.C. Archer. The book is called The School for Psychics, set to be released on April 3, 2018, by Simon & Shuster. Paul Sciarrotta, a co-executive producer on the CW/CBS Studios dramedy Jane the Virgin, will write the adaptation and will also be an executive producer along with Dan Jinks and Jason Egenberg. Wilmer Valderrama and his WV Entertainment have acquired film and TV rights to Dave Gutierrez’s Patriots from the Barrio. (Goodreads). (Source).
Bird Box by Josh Malerman New Cast News!
Danielle Macdonald has joined the cast that already has Sandra Bullock. The show will be, hopefully, debut next year on Netflix. Danielle is playing the character, Olympia. Macdonald has recently wrapped up Dumplin’ with Jennifer Aniston. (Goodreads). (Source).
Netflix Acquired Dorothy & Alice!
Yes, you read it correctly. Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz and Alice from Alice in Wonderland. The story is based on their friendship growing up. It would be a fun show to watch! Netflix got the rights after competitive bidding. The story was written by Justin Merz. (Source).
A Contemporary Adaptation of Hamlet?
Netflix is on a roll! Riz Ahmed, who won an Emmy for HBO’s The Night Of has drawn up a deal with Netflix to develop Hamlet in a contemporary adaptation. Riz has developed the adaptation along with Mike Lesslie. (Source).

Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda Movie Gets an Offical Title!

Karl Urban, Ashley Greene, and Forrest Goodluck have been set to star in Snowblind by Dan Roff, a psychological thriller, along with the feature directorial debut of Marcus Alqueres, whose visual effects credits include 300, Rise of the Planet of the Apes and The Adventures of Tintin.
