Welcome back to Bookish News! Here’s the news that I have gathered over the month of August. Please do let me know of any news that I missed in August and I am more than happy to update this blog. Also, please do let me know of any other sources that would let me know of Authors’ news such as a new book deal, cover reveals, etc. Thank you!

Book News

Jen Wilde News!
We will get a brand new novel from Jen Wilde, whose debut novel, Queens of Geek has captured our hearts! It will be called The Brightsiders, a LGBT+YA contemporary novel about “a teen drummer navigates old family struggles, paparazzi, and coming out as bisexual after she’s branded Hollywood’s latest train wreck.” It is set to be released in Summer 2018 by Swoon Reads. Libby Bray Novella!
There will be a novella, Night of Cake & Puppets, part of Daughter of Smoke & Bone world. It will be illustrated by Jim Di Bartolo. It is set to be released on September 17th. It will be set to release on October 5th, 2017 by Hodder & Stoughton.

Maurene Goo‏ New Book!
I Believe in a Thing Called Love, written by Maurene Goo has announced on Twitter that her next book has a date and a title! The Way You Make Me Feel will be released on May 8, 2018! It is “about summer, friendship, love, family, & food in LA.” (Source).

More Mackenzi Lee News!
Bygone Badass Broads: 52 Forgotten Women Who Changed the World is based on Mackenzi Lee’s popular weekly Twitter series of the same name, Bygone Badass Broads. It features 52 remarkable and forgotten trailblazing women from all over the world. It starts in the fifth century BC and continuing to the present. It has awesome illustrations by Petra Eriksson. Night Blood is set to be released on June 7, 2018, in the U.K. (Source). (Goodreads).

Sabaa Tahir’s 3rd Book!
It has been announced that Sabaa Tahir’s 3rd book would be called A Reaper at the Gates, which is due to hit bookstores on April 10, 2018. Her first two books, An Ember in the Ashes and A Torch Against the Night will have new paperback covers to go along with the new cover. They will be out in bookstores on Aug. 29th. Julie Murphy’s new companion novel! 
There is a new companion novel, Puddin’! It is a sequel to her novel, Dumplin’. It is set to be released in Spring 2018! (Source).

Tara Sim’ Timekeeper News!
Tara Sim had her cover reveal (you’ll see it down below) for Chainbreaker and I am in love. Timekeeper also got a cover change to match the feel of Chainbreaker. (Source).

Renee Ahdieh’s Title for the Sequel!
Smoke in the Sun, a sequel to Flame in the Mist. It will be released on May 1, 2018. Can’t wait for the cover reveal. (Goodreads). 

Victoria’s New Books Announced!
That’s right, Victoria Schwab is having four new books in addition to Vengeful (out in Sept. 2018), the sequel to Vicious, and The Invisible Life of Addie La Rue (it’s a standalone novel). It’s a $1M book deal that would last into 2024. With that deal, there will be a brand new trilogy that is set in the same world as the Shades of Magic series. The trilogy will be called Threads of Powers. The fourth book will be a standalone, I believe – tentatively titled Black Tabs; a female assassin in a future version of NYC. (Source). The Hate U Give Cast News!
Angie Thomas’ The Hate U Give has new cast news! We have Amandla Stenberg as Starr Carter, the main character in the novel with George Tillman Jr. directing. Now there are new casts joining – Russell Hornsby, Regina Hall, and Lamar Johnson, playing as Starr’s father, Maverick, Starr’s mother, Lisa, and her older brother, Seven. Hornsby was in Fences with Denzel Washington, Hall was in Girls Trip that was released recently, and Johson was in the BAFTA Award-winning Canadian show, The Next Step and will be in X-Men: Dark Phoenix. EDIT: More casting news! Please welcome Issa Rae, Sabrina Carpenter, and Common is to join the cast of an amazing group of people! They will be Ms. April Ofrah, Hailey, and Uncle Carlos! (Source). Julie Murphy’s Dumplin’ Movie News!
Julie Murphy’s Dumplin’ has new casts! They joined Jennifer Aniston, Danielle Macdonald, and Odeya Rush. Please welcome Dove Cameron, Luke Benward, Bex Taylor-Kalus, Maddie Baillio, Georgie Flores, and Ginger Minj! Can’t wait for the movie! (Source).

      I agree with you on Obsidio. I was surprised that they went in the color direction. We’ll see how it looks like in person.
