Top Ten Tuesday | That Will Make Me Instantly NOT Want To Read A Book

April 25: Top Ten Things That Will Make Me Instantly NOT Want To Read A Book (Topic: originally done back in 2013) — Tell us all your book turn offs!

I have so many reasons for not reading a book but I am having a hard time putting words from my mind that would make senses. I hope I make this topic justice.I don’t think I am able to truly make this top ten list. Please don’t hesitate to ask clear things up. 

Cringy Tropes // Bullying, love triangles (unless it is done in a way that is not stupid and cringy), students – teacher relationships, Love at the first sight/Insta-Love (I love slow burns, it is more fun to read than reading, “eyes connected and I thought ‘Oh my gosh, I am in love!'” Are you freaking kidding me?!) and a whole lot more.

Hype Books // I admit that I brought books due to the hype and ended up being disappointed but there are exceptions like The Hate U Give (I am still reading it). I am now starting to hold back on hype books till I see more positive review than negative. That is what I did with Truthwirch by Susan Dennard.

The Ending // If there is a book that ends abruptly or doesn’t match the feel of the story, the book will lose a star from me. 

Highly Problematic Content // If someone tells you a book isn’t good for whatever reason like the writing is boring or the characters is not popping out enough, okay then, you can read it for yourself BUT there are some reasons of why I should not read such a book due to its being racist or its enforcing stereotypes and harmful portrayals – no thanks.

Covers // I am the person that loves beautiful covers and is more likely to buy a book that has a cover that makes me like the book a bit more over the ones that I don’t. 

Animal Cruelty // No, thank you.

Relationships // I love a good romance book that is done well and make me go “heart eyes!” BUT if there is a man who is all like, “NO, you must stay. NO! You must do this or that. It is all because I love you!” It makes me go “angry eyes.”
