Diversity Bingo 2017 TBR

diversity-bingo-2017

I have found two great reading challenges for the whole year that I would like to participate. I want to read more diverse and read more own voice books for 2017. They do overlap since I will some books for one and it will still apply to other if it fits the theme.

As you know, I am participating in my first readathon starting on the first of January. It’s for Dumbledore’s Army Readathon as well as DiverseAThon.

I am doing Beat The Backlist reading challenge and I am going to try my best to use books that I have added to that TBR.

Information

These were created by nine beautiful women. These links are to their twitter accounts and blogs if there are one.

There are 36 squares and if I do the math correctly, that would be three books per month. That’s the minimum that I can do, but if I do more, that would be awesome!

I have filled out all but one. I have a problem trying to find an MG book or YA book that are set in Central America. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. I want to mention that I might change books around or replace them.

Below the picture, you will see the books that I am wanting to read for the year. Although, I might change some titles around. I will be updating this page with a review of a book.

Before you go and check the books out, I want to give shout outs to people on twitter that would recommend a book. It helped me a lot and I kept adding a lot of books to my Goodreads! I thought I’d give you a list of bloggers that does a lot. They give suggestions on more than one book to every category! So if you are still unsure on a book for a certain square, check them out! If you did not find any book on these list to your interests, go on twitter and use few hashtags and you will find a lot more!

I’m going to try this as well. I’m not making a TBR though. I’m just going to read more diversely and hope some of the books I read match some of the prompts. What has been great is seeing all of the TBRs. There are so many great books listed! Iron Cast, The Wrath & the Dawn and Labyrinth Lost were all fantastic. I hope you enjoy them and good luck! 🙂

That’s great to hear! I might change some books around if the mood strikes. I love to see TBRs as well. I cannot wait to read them and more. I can’t wait to see what you’re reading this year! 🙂

I just finished my first book for the Black MC Own Voices square. I read Binti, a short story set in space. It was very interesting. 🙂

There’s a sequel? I need it. It was interesting. I liked how it examined race and cultural identity. The alien race were fascinating. A perfect example of how we fear fear the “other” or hold onto preconceived notions about others. I just wish it was longer.

Yeah, it is called Binti: Home. I think it’s coming out on the 31st. Ohh, I am thinking to read that this month. I wonder why it’s short.

I’ll have to check it out. Thanks for letting me know. I think it’s short because it was originally on Tor or something like that?
