October 12th: Inaccurate Book Covers
Those books that have nothing to do with the story or the cover model doesn’t look anything like the actual main character, or it’s a really cheesy cover for a great read!
Sam sure do like to make the topics hard, doesn’t she? It took me a while to think about what books that were great but with the covers that don’t work? Hmm. I hope I get this list correct… Here’s goes! I only did four, because I could not think of anything more. Maybe one day after I read enough books, I might come back and update this page.
1. Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer
I know there are many people who held the series close to their heart just because it was one of the series that made them hooked into fantasy or made them love reading despite the problems that the book have.
With that being said, the covers is classic and we automatically knew it is Twilight. However, it does not match the stories inside these books at all. It just does not. Twilight is the only cover that works because there is a scene in there fits the cover and it still doesn’t fit the story in general! Breaking Dawn, maybe, it fits the tone and the plot of the book but something about it doesn’t work well with me.
2. Divergent series by Veronica Roth
I have read and loved Divergent, is happy with Insurgent and not okay with Allegiant. The only two things that I like about the covers is the city lines of Chicago and the colors. Other than those, it does not scream the book. It is misleading. I wish the icons on the cover is not there and it would be replaced with the actual five factions because that would make a lot more senses.
3. Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
Now, I haven’t read the series or I don’t know if I want to. We’ll see when the mood strikes but it’s everywhere on YouTube and blogs and people loves it. Throne of Glass, the original, is one cover in that series that does not make any senses to me. It doesn’t match the rest and it did not work in the first place.
4. City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
This is another series that I haven’t read but heard a lot. Now, when I first saw the paperback edition, I like it but I researched further and saw that the hardcover edition are so different and it was not appealing. I like the paperback edition better.
Great picks 🙂
